Danger Close Games, one of EA's in-house studios, has today announced that Medal of Honor: Warfighter is due for release on October 23, 2012. It was also revealed that those who pre-order the Limited Edition will unlock the U.S. Navy SEAL Tier 1 Sniper, a multiplayer bonus that would take a Standard Edition owner as long as 40 hours to unlock.

The new title will continue MoH's skirmish with modern combat, offering players a chance to tackle realistic terrorist threats. Whether rescuing hostages in the Philippines or taking down Somali pirates, Warfighter has its sights firmly trained on gritty realism and plausibility.

The latest game in the long-running series will tell the story of Preacher, a U.S. Tier 1 Operator. He returns home from combat to find his family torn apart, but when a deadly explosive substance called PETN enters civilian borders, Preacher and his teammates are brought in to take care of business.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter is to be powered by the Frostbite 2 Engine. Another interesting feature will be in multiplayer, where gamers will be able to assume the roles of Tier 1 Operators from their own country, and fight against those of other nations. That means there will be plenty of SAS vs Navy SEAL action to be had online.
