Publisher Gamevil invited us to see their new mobile game War of Crown a while back, which releases today for iOS and Android devices, and from what we've seen the strategy title, which features turn-based tactical scenarios based on the rock-paper-scissor system (except now it's amplified to six due to the amount of different elements), seems pretty entertaining.

The gameplay experience is comparable with Nintendo's newly released Fire Emblem Heroes, not just because of its cluster pattern, but also because of its presentation. From a strategic perspective, Asone Games' free-to-play RPG offers a unique approach as, for example, every unit has its own initiative that determines how often someone can attack or move. Heroes can change the effect of elements in order to use the system for their own needs too, and things like terrain and weather have their own effects on the battlefield. We think War of Crown's strategic level is equal with that of the Heroes of Might and Magic series from Ubisoft, which is a fine compliment.

The game also offers several different game modes, including adventure, where you have to complete default scenarios in one of three difficulties. In terms of how you progress, there are countless champions, and there's an enormous amount of skills and gear to level up, which is one of the reasons there's a grind mode, similar to Bravely Default, which saves a lot of time.

There's something for everyone in War of Crown, as those who want to play with others can do so via a PvP mode that lets you compete with real players, but those who want to just grind for the loot should have just as much fun due to the enormous amount on collectables and content. Are tactical mobile games on the level to compete with those on PC?
