Voodoo Vince came out on the original Xbox back in 2003, but hasn't been heard from since. That is until now, as original creator Clayton Kauzlaric decided to bring out a remastered version of the old game and we caught up with him to talk about it during PAX East 2017.
"Voodoo Vince for anyone who maybe doesn't remember and a lot of people don't, was out for the original Xbox. Character platformer game centered on Vince, who is a voodoo doll," says Kauzlaric. "He has the interesting twist that you often do bad things to Vince to hurt the monsters around him. And it's set in a spooky, Southern, Louisiana kind of setting, so you have the French quarter, and the cemetery and the Bayou."
The remaster that's coming out on PC and Xbox One on April 18th is largely a passion project for Kauzlaric who is also known for the Total Annihilation series and for having co-created DeathSpank with Ron Gilbert. His current day-time job is as creative director at Microsoft Game Studios. As for a potential sequel, he had this to say:
"Of course. I would love to. It's the sort of thing that may or may not be in the future. I think this is kind of an interesting way to test and see if people like it, see if people respond to it. And if they do, you know, we can see where that goes."
