GRTV News - Rumour: New God of War to feature Japanese and Chinese mythologies, multiple main characters

The rumoured Faye spin-off just got a lot more extra details.

"Without further ado though today we're talking a bit of a juicy rumour about the new God of War game which is meant to be featuring Faye as the playable protagonist and it could also feature a whole host of new mythologies as you can see in the headline there, we've got Japanese and Chinese mythologies and we could also have multiple main characters on the way as well."

"This is Ben's video from when we first had a look at this female led God of War game which is meant to be sort of, I would say, I would call it the next mainline game in the franchise as I believe it's coming from Cory Barlog and it's also going to be developed by Sony Santa Monica."

"There's rumours pointing to this game potentially being revealed for this year with a release date perhaps pointing to next year or even later this year but as I say until we've had official confirmation of this, as always take a pinch of salt, take this rumour with a pinch of salt and lay it all out so you don't get your hopes up too high because often in games we're either reporting on speculation or rumours or what people have said on the inside and we cannot confirm right now whether any of this is legit or not but as we look at a new report from MP First it does seem like there's a lot of data coming out about this potential game which makes it sound more and more real."

"MP First does note as well by the way that obviously development cycles change and ideas get thrown away and moved about and things so it's not entirely the case that this will be the full picture but combining a lot of old reports MP First basically says that this new game could feature Faye as well as Tyr as main characters and it'll have a whole host of different mythologies coming into play as I said before in the shape of probably enemies to fight but also characters that will be joining us on our adventure as it's written that there's some sort of gelatinous cube companion that we'll encounter in the game as well as a talking sword that's meant to be Merlin which sounds a lot like it's going to play a Mimir style role in the game really or you could imagine it doing that for us."

"In any case the plot remains quite sort of sparse in terms of details as while we do know that if the rumours are true that this will be likely a prequel I would say it's pretty likely going to be a prequel rather than something else that involves Faye considering she is dead. Spoilers alert for the 2018 God of War game that came out nearly a decade ago but apart from that we know very little about what we will actually see. It's possible people are theorising that Kratos could be the end boss and that shows how Faye and Kratos meet for the first time but otherwise yeah it's all sort of up in the air right now."

"The involvement of Chinese and Japanese mythologies would be super cool. A lot of people I think would want to see Kratos interact with those mythologies first perhaps but it depends how this game reintroduces the God of War mythos to us. Whether that's going to be some sort of you know whether it seems like in the future we could have Kratos go to these far off lands and face the gods and beasts and things that are in those lands or whether this will be a one and done type thing I don't know. Hopefully we can get something unofficial on it soon because all this speculation always makes me feel a bit confused. I don't know about you guys but definitely for me I always wonder what is actually going on here and how much of the cool stuff is going to be that we see in the speculation that we hear about in rumours is going to be sent back to us. It's going to be made clear in the actual final product."
