We take a look at a few different phone covers for Samsung's latest flagship smartphone, all from the accessory-masters over at UAG.
"Hello everyone and welcome to another Gamereactor Quick Look.
We are in the midst of a pretty heavy phone season, nothing has put out a couple of models and of course the late arrival of the brand new flagship from Samsung, the S26 Ultra."
"Now when a brand new flagship arrives it falls on us to both review the main phone but also to give you a look at some of the accessories that you can buy from accessory makers which of course will be, you know, tumbling in with all of the offers that they have and obviously if you purchased an S26 Ultra, well then you might consider UAG."
"We have taken a look at their products several times before and obviously even though that there is a certain sort of aesthetic dimension to them, functionality, protection is of the utmost importance when you are doing one of these.
So for instance, there's a bunch here which I personally really like."
"So one that I've kept in just so you can see the packaging as well is something called the Metropolis LT but there are actually quite a lot of them and they vary based on a number of different factors and I'm sure you can see it already.
So one, like a really thin one for instance, would have still a lot of drop protection so this would range between I think 20 feet and 25 feet or I'm sorry, 16 feet all the way to 25 feet and you can go even crazier than that and also obviously just how much bulk there is."
"So this is about a couple of different things.
First and foremost, the thickness will like keep the phone at bay if the drop is longer than you're expecting and also the thicker frame will be easily able to distribute the shock that for instance keeps something like a screen from cracking so when it auto balances on a corner then the shock that is sort of comes from the downwards of where the drop point is will be redistributed around this frame which is really, really cool."
"Now these aren't per se, I would say cheap so they range from something like $55 all the way up to $85.
You have something like a Monarch Pro or the Plasma XT E360 but most of them have one common thing which I found to be really important."
"So this one in particular actually has not a detachable but sort of an extendable hoop meaning that you can balance the phone like this and at different angles as well which I think is a really neat little trick and also thinking about how thin this is and it can be manipulated 360 degrees around which I think is really, really, really nice."
"So the Plasma XT E360 is named after just that and it auto clicks here but this has a secondary function because this kickstand that sits on this swivel and that counts for all of these is actually also a magnet meaning that the Qi 2.2 wireless standard which gives Android phones a kind of MagSafe that is not on the S26 Ultra by default like it is through PixelSnap on Pixel phones but it will be restored, it will be added to the functionality of the phone by using one of these covers and obviously the Qi wireless charging coil aligns with this so it will charge if you have a MagSafe charger or a PixelSnap charger."
"It's all good and it's even here on the thicker Monarch Pro.
Now these, the Monarch Pro for instance is built with carbon fiber because again it's an $85 cover so and there is these like built-in screws for sure which I think are really cool.
Also they have on purpose built these oversized buttons so that they're easy to pinpoint by feel and easier to press and not miss the correct one."
"So obviously the one thing that you're probably going to need is that while this is a little bit more subtle, particularly if you like the blue hue in the transparent cover, these are an acquired taste aesthetically.
I mean these look like they could, like they're for action oriented pragmatic folks that want something more than anything else to be protective and I truly get that and it's the same with something like this which has this really sort of arachnid cool look on the Metropolis LT."
"So all of these are available again for a wide variety of prices from UAG.
We have reviewed them in the past or different ones in the past on other flagship phone releases so I would urge you to go check those videos out very soon.
See you on the next one."
