We've been exploring the lands of Pywel, and can safely say Crimson Desert is worth the hype
"Whether you've seen one video or twenty trailers, chances are Crimson Desert has caught your eye. If you've not yet chanced upon the world of Pyrol, then let us introduce you to it and the epic, immersive, open-world action-adventure experience that awaits you in Crimson Desert. After an attack on his clan sees them scatter to the wind, we'll lead you through a rocky cliff as he ventures across a vast, beautiful, and dangerous world hoping to find his lost people and restore the Greymanes back to their former strength. With richly detailed and varied regions to explore, from the craggy mountains and rolling hills of Hernand to the pack-city streets of Demonis, it's always tempting to step off the main path and see what the continent of Pyrol has on offer. Secrets are around every corner and even after dozens of hours scouring the map, you can still find gear, upgrades and locations hidden away in places you'd not yet thought to look. With such a tremendous amount of ground to cover in Crimson Desert, you're probably going to want to save your legs and mount up. Traversal has been expanded like never before in Crimson Desert, with Cliff able to tame a menagerie of beasts including horses, wolves, bears and even a dragon when you're ready to soar among the skies. If natural mounts aren't your thing, you can ride in a fantastical machine that lets you rain fire on your enemies from above or just float down from great heights thanks to Cliff's crow-wings which act as an incredibly cool parachute. However you like to travel, Crimson Desert lets you be the master of your own path."
"That extends to the game's combat too. Almost every button combination you can think of leads to some sort of deadly combo or devastating use of your spirit powers. Cliff can be equipped with an arsenal of unique and powerful weapons, from his standard sword and shield to massive hammers, hefty greatswords, quicker smaller blades and even your fists if you prefer a grappling brawler style of fighting. With the expansive skill tree available in Crimson Desert, you really get to play your way with every fight feeling like a cinematic duel worthy of its own blockbuster experience. You'll be put to the test by the game's toughest opponents but if you've mastered your style of combat and can adapt to the needs of a battle on the fly, you'll soon become a name the friends of the Grey Mane's respect and their enemies fear."
"Cliff isn't alone in this adventure. Alongside a large cast of intriguing and unique characters you'll interact with to restore what was lost to the Grey Mane's, you'll also be able to unlock two additional playable characters as your story progresses. Cliff remains our well-rounded fighter, while Damien offers a quicker, more agile approach and Unger shatters enemy lines with his brutish offence. Being able to switch freely while exploring the open world, these additional playable characters give you yet more options in making Crimson Desert fit the playstyle that best suits you or just explore as a different person for a while."
"Boasting a gorgeous open world with a map so large it can take you hours to cross from one end to the other, an epic quest that sees you embark on a cinematic, enthralling narrative and combat that is so detailed it lets you truly forge your own unique style of fighting, some have raised their eyebrows as they've looked at Crimson Desert. That's with us barely touching on the other elements that really make the continent of Pyrule come to life like the fishing, the cooking, the mining and the other activities you can take part in when you've had enough of painting the desert a fresh shade of Crimson. Take it from someone who's played it, there's no catch, there's no need for you to fear, Crimson Desert is just that good and packs in everything it promises and more in a world that feels like a living, breathing escape from reality."
"Crimson Desert is out now on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5 and PC."
