In this second video in our series, it's all about HarmonyOS, and how it specifically improves and empowers your workouts.
"Throughout the years, Huawei has worked tirelessly to perfect their Harmony OS, their own proprietary software that runs on pretty much all of their current watch lineup, including this, the brand new Watch GT Runner 2."
"Now, it shows more than ever before that Huawei has paid a lot of attention to the small details, unmatched ultra-precision hardware tracking, multi-scenario metrics, and the brand new marathon mode.
We'll dive into all of those in our second video, focusing distinctly on software."
"The new Huawei GT Watch Runner 2 uses a lot of sophisticated software.
This includes an advanced XDR algorithm that calculates where you were and where you came from using internal sensors.
This adds to existing satellite data and enables the Huawei Health app to give you a much more precise route, overview, than previously possible."
"The watch really shows its pedigree as marathon legend Elouid Kipchoge, a man who can run 42km in under 2 hours, has helped improve the training software.
The software now gives the app easy access to races and even provides a race assistant.
More importantly, it has a specialised marathon mode that helps with pacing and even coaching and can remind you to hydrate."
"It can even simulate races and provide advanced adaptive plans that help you reach your goals, even if they are not a full marathon.
Besides tailoring plans to your actual performance, it also makes suggestions for pre- and post-workout and can tell you how to breathe better or plan ahead for an upcoming race."
"The software takes it a step further in cooperation with DSM Ferminec running team, where a running power metric has been developed to calculate energy spent while running.
This measures exercise intensity much better than existing methods.
At the same time, you get real-time lactate threshold detection, since the build-up of lactate is the bane of most forms of exercise, especially when hitting the wall."
"By following the training programs, you can move this threshold significantly and also use it as a strong indicator of performance.
The software can also recognise the difference between aerobic and anaerobic activity, and even swimming is supported with load assessment besides cycling, golf and all the other sports that you would normally use it for."
"The software even helps with dynamic recovery guidance and provides more than 20 forms of post-run data that you can analyse or let the watch analyse for you, on top of the eight health metrics being monitored.
It's pretty clear then that Huawei packs a lot of features into a smartwatch such as the GT Runner 2, which will still, by the way, take you 14 days of light use on a single charge and which connects effortlessly to either your Android or iOS device."
"There's also a dedicated video on hardware for you to watch, so I would advise that you do so.
And I'll see you on the next one."
