We take a look at a few options from Urban Armor Gear, which delivers tough and versatile bags made of ballistic nylon and Kevlar.

We have been working a little bit with Urban Armour for a little while, and for many, they are understood as the manufacturer of, for instance, really rugged but cool-looking covers for smartphones, for instance, and tablets."
"But they also make other things, and that is what we're looking at today.
So bags specifically from Urban Armour, and these are really cool, particularly if you're the kind of person that have been looking at videos that we've made over the past five-ish years with bags from, say, Bellroy or Air, that offer a kind of compromise between style and then protection of really valuable consumer electronics."
"So let's start with the smallest one. So this is the Standard Issue Sling.
Now, this is a one-liter sling, and it is by far the most sort of unassuming, anonymous bit of kit that we have here on the table today.
It is really just a one-liter sling."
"But the cool thing about slings is obviously is that appearances can be deceiving, and behind that one-liter moniker, there is actually a lot of utility.
So obviously, it is in this really durable, hard-working nylon surface, which will repel water and which will generally protect a phone or whatever the case might be that you want to put in this thing."
"There are obviously customizable lengths on this strap, which is really easy, and a really durable sort of strap as well, which I kind of like.
There is a dedicated AirTag pocket, which I was happy to see, but that can also obviously be swapped for another kind of tracker."
"It's actually hidden right here. The point is obviously is that if someone grabs this from you and wants to run away, if the AirTag is placed in an obvious place— for instance, a lot of AirTags come with these little accessories where they would be attached to a hoop of some kind, so that could be the zipper— well, then it's easy to just snap it off because a person now knows what an AirTag looks like and will remove it."
"But if you hide the AirTag, well, chances are, maybe you can continue to track the villain to wherever he or she is going with your bag.
So there is this little pocket here to hide it away, which I think is cool.
And there are two separate compartments here."
"One is lined, which I love, with soft lining.
That basically just means that you know for a fact that if there is a delicate screen on a phone here, well, then it won't get scratched.
So in here, there's a lot of different pockets to separate different things."
"So two, one, two, and then one larger area right here, and two separate ones here.
Really cool.
And then one for keys.
So a lot of utility in something very, very small."
"Then we have what I think a lot of people would look at and think, well, what the hell is that?
Well, this is the civilian medium shock sleeve.
And it is, well, meant to be a computer sleeve for either a 13-inch or a 14-inch laptop."
"But it is a little bit more than that, because obviously, as you can tell, this is hard shell, meaning that it has a sort of a border of protection, a harder outer layer, meaning that while I can manipulate the shape a little bit, it is meant to take and distribute a shock if it is dropped in this outer area here."
"So it will definitely protect a fragile laptop more than if this was soft material.
Inside, if I remove this, we have, well, first of all, I love this orange contrasting color.
Here, you can have your laptop, and then you have a little extra thing for, let's say if you have a pen or some documents."
"But the point is that this is actually, when I looked at it, this is kind of like a little briefcase.
That is mainly due to the handle here, carrying handle.
It is simplified, obviously, because a briefcase would have more ways to put credit cards, pens, documents, stuff."
"Here, you really have space for the laptop and this extra sleeve here.
But still, it's rather cool, I think.
And there is a lot of technology behind it.
It is heat-molded EVA construction-based, which I love."
"It has premium zippers, which obviously will keep weather out, which I think is great.
And it is MIL-STD-810G tested.
It is certified."
"And this lining here that I just showed you, this is micro suede, which also should keep scratches from happening on the lid or the bottom of your precious MacBook or whatever.
So really cool stuff."
"And then finally, the big dog, which is the 24-liter Premium Tech Backpack.
It is made in 105D nylon, scratch-resistant, much more resistant to weather and tear."
"And it is just generally durability, which seems to be the headlining feature here.
So that nylon is obviously a big part of it.
It is also clamshell-based."
"That means that, again, I can manipulate it, but it is meant to have a predefined sort of outer border, meaning that you can fill up this space and not be afraid that it bulks out or if you drop it or you tumble around with it, then it will maintain its shape and therefore be better at protecting the valuables that is inside."
"There are a whole heap of pockets here.
So there is one big one here, which gives you quick access to a bunch of different compartments inside.
The big sort of clamshell opening here basically means that you can also use this for clothes or shoes."
"There is just a lot of space here in the thickness as well, from this, like the bottom, all the way up to where the zipper catches on.
There is a lot of space here."
"And this is just without adding the laptop itself.
And you have additional lined pockets here for chargers or whatever the case might be.
Then you have the laptop compartment, which opens like so, where you can fit up to a 16-inch laptop, which is quite cool."
"And there is an additional tablet space as well.
So that is a lot of utility.
I will say though, it is also quite the high price, because I think this is $220, which is a lot, particularly if, even for a known brand like Urban Armor Gear, they are still battling against someone like, let's say Peak, which makes the Everyday Backpack, which will cost you, maybe not entirely the same, but we are really like, this is a high price."
"So we are going to test whether or not this is worth its high asking price in an upcoming review.
