Huawei WiFi Mesh X3 Pro (Quick Look) - Glowing and Fast

This router is designed to offer whole-home coverage with lighting-fast speeds.

Audio transcription

"Hello, everyone, and welcome to another Gamereactor Quick Look.
While Huawei doesn't launch phones with Android, at the very least, here in our part of the world anymore, I've always admired the company whenever they throw themselves out into another, you know, new market."

"When they make monitors, they make really beautiful monitors.
When they make watches, they tend to make really beautiful watches.
If there's one thing that the company knows how to do, it is to create really gorgeous looking hardware."

"Now, most of those kinds of hardware that I'm talking about are an acquired taste.
They do sometimes collaborate with designers to make more striking consumer electronics, and it doesn't appeal to everyone.
But I will still say that I do enjoy that they try, that they take some risk, because in this world of these aluminum phone slabs and black NETGEAR Orbi routers, well, you can have some fun."

"And Huawei did have some fun when they designed this.
This is the Wi-Fi Mesh X3 Pro Suite.
That means that you get a router and a satellite.
That means that this takes the signal from your wall, however that may come."

"And this is placed elsewhere in the home with no need for an Ethernet connection, which then catches onto this signal and boosts it so that it covers a wider area of your home and it maintains the speed for that wider area.
So this, I should state, is not a luxury, high end piece of router equipment."

"These two is around 200 euros, which is rather cheap.
You don't really get a lot of mesh systems that have this kind of pricing model, particularly a Wi-Fi 7 mesh system.
Yes, of course, you don't get two of these, which you do get in some other sets from competing manufacturers, but still getting these two for 200 euros where it seems like that Huawei put a lot of effort into making a distinct design."

"That is rather intense, I should say, and really good on Huawei to do, because again, usually they tend to make it for the mid-range or more high end market.
So what is it?
Well, the first thing that's probably striking you is this design."

"So it's a transparent sort of cylindrical dome.
And inside you find this mountain sculpture.
You can see that it's probably plastics, that they are more transparent towards the bottom and then frosted at the top."

"That gives the illusion of a mountain with sort of a frosted, snowy peak.
It's not my particular cup of tea.
But additionally, I would say that, as I just spoke with my colleagues about before we started rolling, some people have the ability to hive their routers away."

"Someone doesn't.
Maybe the way that the fiber optic cable that comes in through the the wall or the floor is just positioned in such a way that you can't put this in a basket or tug it away somewhere."

"Maybe you have to reluctantly display it.
So if you're displaying it, why not make it striking?
I'm not saying that this would fit into all homes, but it might fit into some homes.
And at the very least, Huawei had fun with it."

"So the little satellite here does not replicate the mountain design, but it is actually rather striking with a sort of white, semi-transparent piece of plastic below this outer transparent shell.
It almost looks prettier than this."

"And I wish that they have taken this concept and put it in here.
It almost makes it look like the Harman Kardon Aura speaker.
It looks rather good, this.
But at the very least, this very much, I think, is much prettier."

"Point is, it's a quad signal router.
That means a quad signal amplifier for better wall penetration.
It supports major technologies as MLO, 4K QAM and multi-rush.
It has a dual air vent system."

"It's actually open.
So there is a dual air vent, which I think is great for internal cooling and uses shark fin fans inside.
There's automatic signal switching between various bands to make sure that the device that you currently use gets the speed intended for its Wi-Fi receiver."

"So that might be 2.4 gigahertz for some smart home equipment, whereas it might be 6 gigahertz or 5 gigahertz for faster things.
There's a free app which monitors the signal going in and out, like what kind of units are using up the signal strength."

"You can also control your child's online habits and make sure that everything is safe.
And you can use Huawei Homesec to protect you 24-7.
There's also dedicated fast lighting for, say, gaming."

"Some people really enjoy that to make sure that that a particular app or a particular device is prioritized in the networking queue.
And all of this for what appears to be 200 euros.
I mean, a dual band WLAN 7, like Wi-Fi 7 router that can do 3.6 gigabytes per second."

"That's that's really intense.
So we're going to review this fully and see you on the next one."
