This nifty keyboard gets a jump on the competition by having a built-in Stream Deck.
"Hello everyone and welcome to another Gamereactor Quick Look.
We are closing in on the event horizon of what can be done with the typical gaming keyboard, or the very serious sort of keyboard that a serious consumer might buy and enjoy for a lot of money."
"So all these manufacturers are steadily finding new ways in which to justify asking for more And Corsair has found a rather new, a novel way, because obviously they own some companies which also, for instance, does, well, streaming equipment.
So that would be Elgato, for instance."
"And they have chosen in this the Galeon 100SD, and SD is a very operative part of the word, because fully integrated in this keyboard is essentially a Stream Deck.
And you've seen the Stream Deck here on the show before.
It is essentially a way, through Elgato's capturing and streaming software, a bunch of knobs and programmable buttons to cue into known streaming software suites, such as OBS and Twitch's own systems and that kind of stuff, through Elgato's software suite, to give the user a bunch of cute, functional shortcuts for setting up important stream assets that make it easier for the streamer to access, for instance, while they're playing, by simply clicking some of these buttons."
"Now, these buttons are fully digital, meaning that it is me physically pressing it, but what comes up as the little thumbnail image is thoroughly, wholeheartedly customizable and adaptable.
This screen is too, and these knobs are as well."
"So whatever it is that you want to do with your little built-in Stream Deck, you can.
Beyond that, it is a really well-made, expensive keyboard, which is cool.
So that means that everything on this keyboard can be customized, from the 5-inch LCD screen to these buttons, to these knobs, as I said, from hot-swapping these Analects Pulse switches, if that's what you want, through the RGB and this mood bar here, that lighting suite can be fully customized as well, through web-based control software, by the way, meaning that you don't necessarily have to download a beefy program that uses up system resources while you're playing something."
"Very, very clever.
Now, there is 8,000 megahertz polling right here, which is obviously insane.
There is a six-layer sound dampening and gasket mounting for premium feeling and an aluminum frame all around."
"There is essentially the need for several USB Type-C connections here.
My guess is to mount everything.
There are no channels for them, which is a bit of a shame, but they are there, possibly also for you to attach a mouse to if that's what you want."
"Point being that through the Stream Deck, the build quality, the Analects Pulse switches, the 8,000 megahertz polling rate, it is a very max keyboard, this.
It is also 345 euros, which is a lot, like a lot, a lot, but it's still cheaper than some Asus models that we look at, such as the Falcata, which does not have a Stream Deck in it."
"So if you're looking for streaming capability in general or simply likes these programmable Elgato buttons here, well, then there's good reason to look very carefully at the Galeon 100 SD.
We'll be fully reviewing this in the weeks to come."
