It is a sub-brand, or owned, by Lavazza, but most and foremost, they make these really iconic designs."
"You might remember their fridge, for instance.
I think they're absolutely lovely.
I really can't speak about their functionality, or their build quality, or anything like that.
They require a premium pricing, which I have not been able to afford."
"But still, I really do appreciate their attention to detail, their color, and their aesthetic dimensions.
I really do like that.
So, you are able to buy something Smeg for very, very little, because this is a Smeg Edition version of the Lavazza Amodo Mio, which is their more budget-friendly coffee makers, or espresso machine, in this particular instance."
"It is very, very simple.
So we have to talk about the design as well, because you buy Amodo Mio capsules, like you do with an espresso.
You lift up here, and you insert it into the dedicated little slot that will open down towards the top, right here."
"This is a thick piece of metal, which is very nice.
You close it, and then, like you would with an espresso, or a lot of coffee makers out there, or espresso makers, there is dosage buttons, which you can reprogram if you want a particular dosage every time."
"Small, big is the two default settings, and it will make you an espresso down here.
That is pretty much as simple as it gets.
It will deposit these in a little compartment here, which you empty on a regular basis, and the water tank is back here."

There are a lot of coffee makers, ever since an espresso sort of stormed into the scene, became part of pop culture, that is like this, but what would draw you more naturally towards one or the other?
Because all of them will put you into a capsule or a pod ecosystem, where you buy these pods on a regular basis in order to get your coffee."
"So which one do you get?
I would argue that they are all pretty good tasting.
Nespresso pods taste fine.
I like Lavazza's more."
"I do think that there is an inherent taste profile.
I've been tasting the other Amodo Mio pods, which I think is pretty nice, particularly the Oro one, is a personal favorite of me and my girlfriend, Clara.
But with this, you get something which is pretty, but I know that that doesn't matter to a lot of functionalists out there that want effect, and I do get that."
"But for around $150, you get an espresso maker, which I think looks very nice, looks authentic.
It is plastic, it's not ceramic or anything like that, but it looks nice, both from afar and up close, and I think that has value because an espresso machine will be, if you want to buy this thing, chances are that you want to have it on your kitchen counter at all times because you want coffee every now and again, right?
You both want to serve yourself and others."
"So having something which isn't both either boring or, well, ugly, I think matters.
So the Smeg edition of the Lavazza Amodo Mio makes a lot of sense, and I would recommend it based on that fact alone.
I've also taste-tested the pots before, and they taste really good."
