These over-ear headphones are meant to be the depiction of class and quality, all while delivering top of the line audio.
"Hello everyone and welcome to another Gamereactor Quick Look.
We have taken a look at quite a few of Bowers & Wilkins PX8 headsets, or at least PX headsets over the years, their main flagship over-ear headsets."
"And they are very expensive in general, but they are also very luxurious in general.
And as we have demonstrated in a number of written reviews as well, they are almost second to none in their ability to create a characteristic sound signature while also sort of preserving all the layers of the sound."
"You can really feel Bowers & Wilkins' heritage as a more high-tech audio brand, and that comes through here.
These are the PX8 S2s, and they use, I mean, first of all, it's a striking looking design with an exposed wire, which is sort of canvas laid, that runs through this little groove in the metal as it goes up and disappears into the brace."
"It is really cool.
These are aluminium, and they just feel fantastic.
It is Nappa leather, soft Nappa leather, on the ear cups with memory foam here at the top and in the cups themselves."
"It uses carbon cone drive units, and it's the first time that I've heard of those.
Apparently, they conduct better.
It can run aptX Adaptive at 24 to 96 kHz.
It is aptX Lossless enabled."
"There is a dedicated headphone amp to each of these drivers.
So there's a lot of oomph to go with that grunt, which is nice.
They promise 30 hours of battery life, which isn't as good, but then again, I suppose that it does take a lot of current to power up these amps inside here."
"There will be spatial audio, but only later.
We're recording this slightly before the embargo towards the end of September, so hopefully it will get that very soon.
Like with the Sennheiser Momentum that we just took a look at, there are eight microphones in here, which both is for better quality, but also improved ANC, and they have this really slim profile."
"I mean, it's not a space-saving headset by any means, but I'm pretty sure that once I do this, you can appreciate the way that they look.
They are also expensive.
They are €730, which is like Bang & Olufsen territory right there."
"But there is also an attention to detail here that we have to take into account.
So we'll be reviewing this in full very soon.
Stay tuned for more.
See you on the next one."
