The latest Xperia device from Sony looks to offer newfound quality and power through the latest hardware and enhanced AI innovations.
"Hello everyone and welcome to another Gamereactor Quick Look.
This is the brand new or semi-new Sony Xperia.
This is the 1 Mark VII, which is the seventh version of their ONE flagship."
"It is subtle improvements every year as it is with every phone manufacturer, but we still really do like Sony's way of manufacturing phones in general.
It's 197 grams and it's made in this really camera-like studio equipment material.
I'm sure that it is metal in some regards, but there is such grippy texture here that it really does feel like grabbing a piece of very serious photography hardware."
"The battery inside is 5,000 mAh, which should make it last all day and then some.
Inside you'll find a Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is pretty obvious now, alongside 12GB of RAM, which is great.
There is a triple array of cameras here."
"There's a 50MP 16mm ultrawide, a 52MP 24mm and variable aperture 48mm wide sensor, meaning that it can shift between the two.
These dual variable sensors is something Sony have used before and it's worked very well.
And there's also a 12MP dual variable 85-170mm lens."
"So again, having several shooting characteristics and modes hidden in one sensor just gives the proper phone photographer a lot of freedom to move about.
The screen itself is a 6.5-inch OLED, which is great, 120Hz, well, you already know this, which is lovely."
"And Sony's been making really nice OLED screens for phones in general for a long time.
It is expensive, Xperia 1s have been for a long time.
It's about 1,500 euros for the 256GB version.
That seems like a lot."
"That's like a whole third more than the Pixel 10 Pro, a whole third more than an iPhone 17 Pro.
So they do know how to charge Sony, but you do get a lot of bang for your buck.
And it is a very serious piece of photography hardware."
"We will have Kim review this in full in the days and weeks to come.
So stay tuned for that.
See you on the next one."
