"Hello everyone and welcome to another Gamereactor Quick Look.
I'm old and therefore I wasn't really familiar, I was very aware that people were using the term touch grass but it was something that was initially sort of beyond my understanding, wasn't in my immediate sort of like my circles of friends where it was actively used but I was then made aware that it actually means going offline."
"People that are chronically offline and really sort of embodying sort of internet like web mentalities should sometimes plug out and go out and experience real life, therefore touching grass.
Now dbrand is one of the funniest companies I think on earth, particularly in terms of their marketing, in terms of their communication strategies with their consumers, it is super super innovative and I often find the jokes themselves to turn into really good marketing strategies as well."
"They've really branded themselves well so big kudos to the team that comes up with these ideas but going back to touching grass, well the initial April Fools was actually to touch grass which you can with dbrand's new collection of skins for literally everything.
So initially you would have thought that this was something that they would ship out to a few influencers and they would get some laughs and some brand awareness but that is not dbrand."
"The cool thing about dbrand is that this is a real product that you can buy for almost the entire host of different gadgets that they support with their regular skins.
So that is iPads, that is MacBooks, that is phones, Steam Decks, Xbox Series X consoles, there is the whole host of stuff here and that is quite insane I think and it's cool."
"I mean it's not perhaps something that would age very well.
I've yet to see how this fades over time, if it will begin to lose these small strands of artificial grass, if it ends up sort of shedding then it's not going to be pleasant I fear but in terms of actual hand feel, I've set this with synthetic leather as back plates on phones or dbrand's own real leather skins that it's so nice for your hands to come into contact with something which isn't like frosted glass or like aluminium or titanium because all of these cold industrial design elements become so samey and you become so out of touch with real sort of warm materials."
"This actually can stand in for that to a degree and it makes the iPad which I use generally every day to watch things, to maintain an overview of things without having to pull out my bulky laptop.
I use this constantly and well this is a really weird way to get a different kind of tactile experience when holding it."
"Again we're going to have to see how this ages so I'll keep it on here I think but so far just again big thumbs up to dbrand for trying something new, for going all out on what was essentially I think at first a joke and well check out all of their other stuff.
We have plenty of videos on particularly the tan real leather skins which I absolutely adore."
"I got a touch grass skin for the MacBook Pro 16 which I use every single day but I couldn't bear to peel off the real leather skin so it had to be the iPad.
Thank you so much for watching, see you on the next one."
