It's a bit of salt in the wound, but in a way it's nice to know the game was doing well.
"Hello there, welcome back to GRTV News, I'm Alex, as usual, going through the afternoons, latest and greatest when it comes to gaming, technology, entertainment, whatever you like, whatever you love, we've always got it here for you at GRTV News and in the wider Gamereactor network as a whole."
"So if you like what you see and you want to see more, be sure to check out Gamereactor wherever you get it from for more gaming reviews, gaming previews, movie reviews, series reviews, interviews, exclusives and of course so much more.
Without further ado, today we're talking about the cancelled Wonder Woman game and sort of a bit of a knife in the wound again once more as we're hearing about it from one of the writers of the game who believed that it was gorgeous and expansive."
"Now if you're not aware, earlier in the week we covered that Monolith Productions was being shut down by WB Games alongside Player First Games and the San Diego studio which was mainly producing mobile games.
Now this also obviously coincides with the cancellation of Monolith's Wonder Woman game which had been working on for years but which apparently wasn't in the best state."
"However, a writer for the game, as Jonas reports here, says quite the opposite, says that it was in a pretty good state and it would have been pretty well received or at least that it was going to be, you know, something that would have at least impressed a fair amount of people."
"The game was gorgeous and expansive writes writer Gail Simone, I'm not going to give details for a number of reasons but every effort was made to make this not just a great game but a great Wonder Woman game, a showpiece epic.
She defends both the developers and publisher, Warner, explaining that everyone I worked with for Monolith and WB were both enthusiastic and supportive."
"Wonder Woman had a dream team and they put their all into it, they made sure it had Wonder Woman and DC lore on every aspect of the game, it was a thrill and honour to work with them.
So that does sound pretty good but again, no details are really given because one, that would probably just be putting more salt into the wound considering we're never going to see this game, it's never going to come out and two, that there's not really much point as I say, you know, you're only going to make things worse by telling people the things that they can't have and WB isn't going to go back at any point."
"Now at some points you can say, well Warner Bros is trying to restructure it's gaming thing but I don't think it's very defensible to have a studio that brought out games like Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor and Middle Earth Shadow of War, two very very successful games and then just throw it to the wayside, laying off everyone pretty much in there."
"Now that's my personal take, obviously that's not the news itself but looking at this, all it can add really is a little bit of, again, salt in our wound as we sort of try and mourn the loss of Monolith, a game studio that didn't just work for WB, obviously it had been bought years and years ago but it had drive up things like FEAR and then obviously as I say the Middle Earth games when it did team up with WB and it was well known for those games and we would have seen that system, the Nemesis system come back in Wonder Woman."
"We won't see that and we likely won't see a game with the Nemesis system until the patent runs out in 2036 and then Warner Bros could just probably renew it and probably will.
At that point I don't know what's going to be happening with the industry but for now at least we know what the Wonder Woman game may have been like and it's a little sadder that we know we'll never get it."
"Let me know if you were hyped about the Wonder Woman game, let me know if you saw the signs of sort of it's cancellation coming earlier and I'll see you tomorrow for some more GRTV news.
Goodbye."
