Naughty Dog's acclaimed sequel is coming to PS5 in January.
"Good morning everyone and welcome back to another week of GRTV News.
Today we're going to be kicking it off by looking at a big announcement that took place actually at the end of Friday. It was really late on Friday when this was officially confirmed following a leak actually that's probably why it was so late on Friday because it was kind of like it got leaked and then Sony kind of just thought screw it we'll just get the actual announcement out there and it's in regard to The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. Now we've been hearing rumours about this game for a while and it's now been confirmed so we kind of know how it's going to be offered up but what we do know is that it's going to be coming to PS5 and it's going to be coming in January so with that being the case let's dive on in. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is coming to PS5 in January. Naughty Dog's masterpiece will be prettier, better sounding, improved DualSense functions, add a roguelike mode and more. Almost a year has gone since credible rumours about The Last of Us Part 2 coming to PlayStation 5 and PC started making the rounds. We've gotten further extremely strong indications about this both once and twice since then but the third time is the charm. Naughty Dog confirms that what's called The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will launch on the PS5 on the 19th of January. I've heard from multiple sources at the company that the PC version will come in mid-2024. They say they want Part 2 to outperform far better on PC than The Last of Us Part 1 did the first few months but the press release doesn't mention anything about this. So what's new in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered?
Well it'll obviously be even prettier, take advantage of PS5's improved audio capabilities and have faster load times but Naughty Dog have some other less expected goodies up their sleeves."
"The most surprising is a roguelike mode called No Return. We get to choose between many different characters with unique abilities before going into a world similar to Hades where different paths lead to a variety of randomised encounters and areas. This will reward us with new character skins and other cool stuff. Top this with being able to explore areas that didn't make it into the final game, new behind the scenes footage and commentary, the new guitar free play mode, Gustavo alluded to, new skins, even more accessibility options, a speedrun mode and a few other things. And it's safe to say yours truly will play through The Last of Us Part 2 again in January. Especially because those of us who own the original will be able to upgrade to remaster for $10 and bring our save files over with us."
"Now I think that last bit is really quite exciting in a way because The Last of Us Part 1, which was granted like a full remake of The Last of Us, was a full priced product.
Which I think to a degree kind of felt a bit greedy in a way. And then you get this announcement which is a remaster of a game that is really not very old at all and probably not in need of a remaster at all. But it's a PS5 game now and like is mentioned in that news piece there, if you have Last of Us Part 2 on PlayStation 4 you can upgrade to this PlayStation 5 version to get all that additional stuff, the roguelike mode, the guitar free play, the additional scenes and all that goodness. You can do it for just an extra £10 or $10. I'm assuming it's going to be £10 across the board there so £10 euro and dollars but we'll find out more about that I guess in the future."
"Either way it's coming soon, it's coming on January 19th so it's going to be one of those games to kick off 2024. January 2024 is already looking to be quite interesting you know we have the new Prince of Persia game Tekken 8, The Last of Us Part 2 remastered now so there's a few different things to look forward to once the new year kicks in. But yeah as we know more about The Last of Us Part 2 remastered we'll be sure to keep you posted and updated and otherwise we're back tomorrow now with the next GRTV News of the Week. So until then hope you enjoy the rest of your Monday we'll see you on the next one. Take care everyone."
