Sony has shifted the release dates for a ton of its upcoming projects.
"Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of GRTV News. It's a new week and we're going to be picking up on something that was announced very late on the Friday actually. Sony has, as is quite common in the movie industry, shifted the release dates of a lot of its upcoming projects, which is something we're probably going to be seeing quite frequently now from a lot of different production companies with these ongoing strikes drastically affecting production. So Sony is the first one to really make the major moves and because of it, the Ghostbusters sequel that was planned for later this year is coming in 2024. Crave and the Hunter is coming in 2024. Gran Turismo is a little bit later this August and Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse, but we don't know when that's going to be coming now. So with that being the case, let's dive on in."
"Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse delayed indefinitely, while Ghostbusters Afterlife sequel and Crave and the Hunter will now come in 2024. As expected, the SAG Afterstrike has already led to a plethora of movies and TV shows being delayed and now it's time to add another batch of highly anticipated projects to the list. Sony Pictures has announced the delay of several projects. One of the most disappointing ones is that Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse has been delayed indefinitely after being set for the 29th of March 2024."
"One of the reasons for this not getting a new date is obviously that major parts of the production have stopped completely because the actors can't record their lines while striking so they won't be able to start up again until the strike is over. That's far from the only project being pushed. Even the upcoming Gran Turismo movie won't make its planned 11th of August premiere. David Harbour, Orlando Bloom and crew will instead race their way into cinemas on the 23rd of August. Not exactly a long delay, something we can't say about most of the other ones. Let's make this simple by listing the delays in order of how long they are. So Madame Web has been pushed forward, believe it or not, from the 16th to the 14th of February 2024. So not really much of a change there. Gran Turismo has been delayed from the 11th to the 23rd of August 2023. Again, not a huge change. Ghostbusters Afterlife sequel, which we still don't know the name of it despite the fact that it was planned to come out later this year, has been moved from the 23rd of December 2023 to the 29th of March 2024. So into Spider-Verse's slot. The new Karate Kid reboot from the 7th of June to the 13th of December 2024. So it's operating in that sort of holiday window now. Craven the Hunter for the 6th of August 2020, 6th of October 2023 to the 30th of August 2024. So that's quite a significant delay for a movie that is seemingly already ready to go, judging by the trailers and the fact that it was coming out in a few months time. They Listen has been delayed indefinitely from the 30th of August 2024. So, you know, we don't know when that movie is going to be coming."
"And likewise, Spider-Verse, Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse has been delayed indefinitely from the 29th of March to the 20th of March 2024. It's important to note that we might see further changes when the strike ends and Sony has worked out new schedules.
Spider-Verse is an interesting one because ever since Across the Spider-Verse came out, a variety of different reports and whatnot have surfaces surface stating that the movie isn't even marginally ready to be to be to be released. And the editor, the animators and whatnot are going to be working very, very hard to try and hit that that March window anyway. But yeah, with the strike being in effect and the fact that actors can't record their lines and whatnot, it means that we're not going to be seeing Spider-Verse coming out in March unless unless maybe, you know, maybe there's a massive change and something shifts. Who knows? But it looks highly unlikely that we're going to be seeing Spider-Verse coming out in March and we have to wait even longer to see this movie. But again, you know, we got Across the Spider-Verse in June and this was promised about 10 months later to debut. So it's not exactly it's not like we're being overwhelmed and the market saturated with Spider-Verse content. So but yeah, let us know what you think about all these delays. Which movie are the ones that have been delayed? Are you most excited to see? For some reason, me, it's actually the Ghostbusters sequel because Afterlife was really entertaining. But yeah, let us know what you think. And otherwise, this is all the time we have in today's episode of GRTV News. We'll be back now tomorrow for the next one of the week."
"So until then, I hope you enjoy the rest of your Monday and we'll see you all on the next one.
Take care, everyone."
