GRTV News - Amazon to produce Tomb Raider TV series
The publisher of the upcoming Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider title will also be bringing us a TV series based on the famed explorer.

"Hello everyone and welcome back to another GRTV News. It's a new week and we're going to be picking up on something that happened over the weekend which is a new report that has come out and it's talking about what the future of the Tomb Raider franchise as a whole will cover.
Now we know for a while that Amazon is going to be publishing the next Tomb Raider game which is being developed by Crystal Dynamics. We haven't really heard much about it other than that sort of stuff and we were told that quite a while back so we're probably due for a bit more news about what this Tomb Raider game will be."
"But that's not what we're talking about today. We're talking about Amazon again. We're talking about them because they're going to be producing a Tomb Raider TV series and a movie actually as well. They're going to be producing a lot of Tomb Raider content to likely go alongside this game that they're publishing as well. So that's what we'll be talking about and without further ado let's dive right into the news piece.
Amazon to produce Tomb Raider TV series. It will also publish the upcoming game from Crystal Dynamics.
It looks like another reboot of Lara Croft's Adventures is on the way but this time in the form of a TV series on Amazon who seems to be going the Netflix route and producing more video game related content."
"According to the Hollywood Reporter Phoebe Waller-Bridge is attached to the project as executive producer and screenwriter along with Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt. However according to sources there are no plans for Waller-Bridge to appear in front of the camera yet.
After the success of Amazon's Fleabag the news comes as little surprise and Waller-Bridge has quickly become one of the hottest names in Hollywood and we'll even see her in the fifth Indiana Jones film later this year. What do you think about a Tomb Raider series?
So yeah there's no mention as to who's going to be playing Lara here. It's very likely this is going to be a reboot right. This is we're probably not going to be seeing Alicia Vikander back in the titular role."
"Although again there's every chance it could happen but it would seem rather unusual because it seems to be completely different to the movie that came out a few years back.
But yeah there's going to be an Amazon TV series about Lara Croft. Like I said this is very early on so don't expect to be coming in 2023. Depending on how quickly they get things going and turn it around late 2024 might be a good time period to look at.
But if anything you're probably looking at 2025 onwards for this TV series which will likely be coming sometime around the same time the game releases. Judging by the sort of development windows and time periods we've been looking at for the Crystal Dynamics project."
"But yeah Phoebe Waller-Bridge the person the incredible woman who gave us Fleabag and has done various different things over the past few years including appearing in the upcoming Indiana Jones Dial of Destiny.
There might be a V in there I'm not sure which is going to be coming in this summer.
But yeah as we learn more about this as we learn about who they're going to cast as Lara Croft in this movie and as we learn more about the plot and when it's going to be coming to Amazon Prime Video and all these different things we'll be sure to keep you posted and updated."
"But the big thing to take from it is that if you like Lara Croft if you like the Tomb Raider series if you like the Tomb Raider franchise there's plenty of it coming down the line all under the banner of Amazon.
So that's the big thing to take from it.
