Richard Seabrook's journey with Prospekt is a storied one. His solo-developed game is an update to Half-Life 2 which follows on the storyline from the Gearbox crafted spinoff, Opposing Force.

After having worked on the game for a year and a half, Seabrook loaded the game onto two USBs and sent them to Gabe Newell in a Half-Life emblazoned briefcase. Although he got no response from Valve, the game was a success on Steam Greenlight and was approved in 72 hours.

Then at last year's Gamescom he was able to secure the funding he needed to develop the game full-time, and shortly thereafter he got an official licence and asset approval from Valve.

Now, finally, the game is out on Steam and available to buy. Check out the trailer and screens below to see it actions, and here's a bit about the story:

Prospekt continues the story of US Marine Adrian Shephard, who is teleported into the Nova Prospekt prison by Gordon Freeman's Vortigaunt alien allies in order to help fight the dreaded inter-dimensional Empire known as the Combine.

"It's hard to find anything that makes this stand out from the crowd of other shooters gunning for your attention."
