We had a chance to chat with game director Josh Mosqueira about the Ultimate Evil Edition of Diablo III that's hitting new and old consoles this week.

"It really boils down to the name," says Mosqueira. "It's the Ultimate Evil Edition. We're really proud of the work that the team did to get the epic experience that is Diablo and how to translate that so it feels hand built to the console. And the reception to the original one was fantastic. It was, people loved what we were doing in terms of direct control, the closer camera, what we now call Loot 1.5 that really influenced what Loot 2.0 became for Reaper of Souls. So we really started thinking about how do we do the Ultimate version of this. It was really about how can we leverage first the power of the new consoles, both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Great new systems, each of them have cool new features, like the PlayStation 4, the DualShock 4 controller has been a lot of fun to develop for. Especially that track pad, again if you've played Diablo on console you know there's a lot of inventory management and the track pad is just a cool way of being able to do that."

"But really what we wanted to do is to take the core foundation of what was Diablo on console and obviously add the Crusader and all the Reaper of Souls content to it, you know Act 5, Adventure Mode. But we really wanted to celebrate what we feel is the most unique aspects of playing on console which is the social experience."

Mosqueira spent some time detailing how they've worked to improve the couch co-op experience as well as what the new Nemesis system adds.

"If you've got the old-gen version of Diablo III then there's just about enough to make it worth a return visit, though you may want to wait until the price drops."
