Game developer/publisher Ubisoft has released some sales numbers for the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year, ending June 30, and it's good news in terms of sales, especially digitally.
The press release reveals that sales for the company are up 45.2% to 202.1 million euros, which equates to around £178 million, with digital revenue going up 55% as well, to 162.4 million euros. This means that digital sales make up 80.4% of total sales compared to last year's 75.3%.
Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the company Yves Guillemot stated that "fueled by the digital segment - our sales for the first quarter of 2017-18 came in well ahead of our targets, up 45%, despite the fact that there were no major new releases during the period."
Ubisoft also said that back-catalog sales have come in at 190.4 million euros, making up 94.3% of total sales versus 91.1% in the corresponding quarter of last year.
"Thanks to our increasing ability to engage players over the long term, combined with our unique creative strengths," Guillemot continued, "we are even more confident of achieving our targets for 2017-18 and 2018-19. We expect both of these factors to continue being key drivers of value creation in the coming years."
Can Ubisoft continue this good form moving forward?
