The 2022 Call of Duty League season is officially in full swing as the Kickoff Classic tournament has taken place, with a victor being determined. Lasting over the previous few days, the tournament saw every CDL team fighting through a bracket to earn a $30,000 cash reward for winning the whole event.
Heading into the event, the Atlanta Faze was probably many of fans favourite to take the tournament, especially with the team coming off a dominant championship winning season. However, the Faze failed to get anything going and fell at the first hurdle, being knocked out by the Seattle Surge 3-1.
With the Faze eliminated, the next favourite was likely the Toronto Ultra, 2022's runner-up. Following three matches, against the Florida Mutineers, the LA Thieves, and the Seattle Surge, the Ultra managed to complete its run through the bracket and took the event and the $30K prize for itself.
With the Kickoff Classic behind us, the next bit of CDL we can look forward to is the first week of online qualifiers for Major I. You can take a look at the full season schedule here.
