Tomb Raider's Darrell Gallagher joins Microsoft
Heads to Microsoft Game Studios after a spell at Activision.
Microsoft has said it needs to bolster its output from Microsoft Game Studios (first-party exclusives) in 2018, either by setting up new studios or buying existing ones. It also seems that bolstering the executive staff at Microsoft Game Studios is part of this as it was recently announced by MGS boss Matt Booty on Twitter that Darrell Gallagher is now a member of the executive leadership team. Curiously, Booty said he was excited "to share more" at E3, possibly hinting there's more to this than just a simple case of a new executive coming on board.
Gallagher is perhaps best known for being in charge of Crystal Dynamics as they rebooted the Tomb Raider franchise, but at the time of his resignation in December 2015 he was also in charge of the Deus Ex and Hitman franchises. After his time at Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix he went to work for Activision where he served as senior vice president and head of development.
