      Tom Clancy passes away

      Several sources confirm death of best-selling author and founder of Red Storm.

      Tom Clancy, best selling author of military fiction such as "The Hunt for Red October", "Patriot Game", and "Clear and Present Danger", as well as founder of Red Storm Entertainment - studio responsible for creating the popular Tom Clancy line of games (including Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell), has passed away at age 66. New York Times reports the news and Publisher Weekly has also tweeted as much. According to the sketchy information available Clancy passed away at a Baltimore hospital last night.

      Update: Ubisoft have released the following statement via their Facebook page:

      "We are saddened to learn of Tom Clancy's passing and our condolences go out to his family. Tom Clancy was an extraordinary author with a gift for creating detailed, engrossing fictional stories that captivated audiences around the world.

      The teams at Ubisoft, especially at the Red Storm studio, are incredibly grateful to have collaborated with and learned from him, and we are humbled by the opportunity to carry on part of his legacy through our properties that bear his name."
