We recently had the opportunity to talk to Maciek Strychalski and Sean Wright, two of the minds that make up SMAC, the indie studio developing the colourful isometric shooter Tokyo 42.

In the game you will be tasked with assassinating a target in a busy open world environment. You'll be given lots of different tools with which to take out your target, but if the game's inspirations are anything to go by, you might struggle to find your target:

"We describe it as a mix between a lot of things we love, and one of our starting points was Where's Wally [Where's Waldo?], but what we wanted to do was take a sniper rifle and get involved. Wally in this scenario is a bad guy that you have to seek out."

"That was a starting point for us - those old super detailed books like Where's Wally, a design group called eBoy, and games like Syndicate; we wanted to get into those worlds and do really intricate combat and interaction. With the new technologies that we've got, Unity and the physics that we've got access to, get involved with that world and interact with it and become a part of it."

The game looks very promising indeed, and we're definitely interested to see what the full release will bring us. It is set to release early next year, and will be available on PC. Head this way to check out the recently released announcement trailer.
