Tim Willits is a face we've seen many a time when talking about id Software's games, as he's the studio director who's delivered us games from the recent Rage 2 all the way back to The Ultimate Doom in 1995, but he's now revealed on Twitter that he's leaving the company after QuakeCon, capping off 24 years at id.
"After 24 years, I've decided to leave id Software after QuakeCon. I've been extremely lucky to work with the best people in the industry on truly amazing games. QuakeCon has been an unbelievable part of my journey and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Gaylord Texan," he writes.
"All of the games currently in development are in very good hands, my departure will not affect any planned releases. id Software is packed full of amazing talent that will continue to develop (long into the future) some of the best shooters in the world."
"After QuakeCon I will announce my future plans, where I am going, and what new exciting things I am doing. Stay tuned."
We've included a few of our recent interviews with Willits down below, but we want to hear from you. What are your favourite moments from Willits, or games he's helped produce?
