Thomas Tuchel will be England's new football manager, agreeing to coach the men's team after Gareth Southgate's resignation last summer. Tuchel is a well known figure in the country, helping Chelsea win the Champions League in 2021, as well as winning major leagues in Germany and France with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

The FA had also eyed Manchester City's Pep Guardiola, but finally decided on Tuchel, free of work since leaving Bayern Munich last season.

Being German, some are questioning the choice, but the FA doesn't see that as a hindrance. FA's CEO Mark Bullingham pointed that the England women's coach, Sarina Wiegman, is Dutch, as noted by The Guardian.

Instead, Tuchel's choice is being controversial because of the coach's personality, that some fans, both within and outside the teams he has coached, think is eccentric and even arrogant, even with all of his accomplishments.

But Tuchel has clear advantage: he knows well England's captain Harry Kane after his tenure at Munich. Kane fully endorses Tuchel, and after the news broke, he talked about him as a "fantastic coach, fantastic person."
