The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

There's more The Witcher coming, but it won't be Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red hints at a new Witcher title in development in parallel to Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red had already announced in the past that Geralt's adventures ended with the last game of his excellent trilogy. However, that does not mean that this is the end of the world of The Witcher, as explained in an interview with Adam Kiciński, with Polish Bankier.pl.

The CEO of CD Projekt confirms that in parallel with Cyberpunk 2077, the studio was working on another game, but that it's too soon to talk about this game. For now, they prefer to focus on the development of Cyberpunk 2077 that made a splash at E3 last month (read our impressions of Cyberpunk 2077). We also learn through this interview that the sequel to The Witcher 3 will not be called "The Witcher 4."

"The first three Witchers were by definition a trilogy, so we simply could not name the next game The Witcher 4," Kiciński said. "This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher, created by us for over a dozen years. The Witcher is one of two franchises on which to build in the future activities of the company. Today, unfortunately, I cannot reveal anything more."

Which characters would you like to see in a new The Witcher game? Should it be focused on Ciri, as voice actor Doug Cockle suggested?

"If this little sojourn to Toussaint is to be our final adventure with the silver-haired monster slayer, then it's a fitting conclusion."
