The trailer for Netflix's The Witcher shows a land in turmoil
Netflix showed the Witcher cast in motion by releasing the official trailer for the much-talked-about series.
The Witcher, as you probably know by now, is expanding its territory from novels and a video game series to the small screen with streaming giant Netflix in Q4 of this year. Leading the project is Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who has previously worked on series such as Daredevil and The Defenders (amongst others) and the plot follows the Andrzej Sapkowski novels rather than the CD Projekt Red series.
Sapkowski, who became increasingly unhappy about his deal with CDPR in terms of payment and the portrayal of his work, has even been confirmed to be a creative consultant for the show, so hopefully, we shouldn't see a repeat of his previous dispute.
The Witcher cast has been known for a while, with Henry Cavill portraying the White Wolf, Geralt of Rivia, and Freya Allan portraying the powerful Lady of Space and Time, Ciri.
Sean Daniel and Jason Brown (Executive producers) have stated that, "The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can't wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling"
And even though the specific novel inspiration hasn't been shared, the story seems to follow the relationships between the characters closely in the midst of war. Check the trailer out below.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich shared some additional information on Twitter, but beware, you may consider it a spoiler.
