One of the games that intrigued us the most during this evening's Nindies Showcase was The Red Lantern, an adventure game with roguelike elements where "hundreds of unique events can occur". It's based around a race called the Iditarod, which takes place in Alaska and involves people trekking across the wilderness in sledges pulled by dogs.

In this narrative-driven adventure, players will have to tend to their dogs, heal themselves if/when they get into trouble, hunt for food, and generally try and stay out of trouble. Obviously, this is going to be easier said than done and as we saw in the trailer below, there are hungry bears out looking for lunch.

By the looks of it, this is developer Timberline Studio's debut title, and it's going to take advantage of the gyro controls of the Switch when played in handheld mode (allowing you to look around you by turning the console) when it lands "later this year". You can see it in action below.
