The Pokémon Company announces the first Asian multi-region tournament for Sword and Shield

The Pokémon Company has revealed that the first Asian multi-region tournament for Sword and Shield will commence on August 28. The Pokémon Asia Players Cup 2021 will see players from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand go head-to-head and it is being held by ESL which is one of the largest global esports companies.

The competition is comprised of three separate stages: two qualifier weekends (which will be held August 28 - 29 and September 4-5) and a grand final which will take place on September 11. The champion of the competition is said to receive a ticket to this October's Pokémon Global Exhibition and an all-expenses covered trip to the 2022 Pokémon World Championships.
