As we've previously reported, a new Mortal Kombat movie is in pre-production right now. It's a reboot of the movie franchise and will be every bit as gory as the video games it's based on, with Greg Russo as writer and the project to be directed by Simon McQuoid.
So far, we know that Joe Taslim is playing Sub-Zero, Ludi Lin is Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks is Jax, and Tadanobu Asano is Raiden. Now two more fighters have been added to the roster, and they are Kano and Sonya Blade, both of whom were introduced to Mortal Kombat in the very first game. The Hollywood Reporter now claims that Josh Lawson (House of Lies) is going to play Kano, while Jessica McNamee (The Meg, Battle of the Sexes) is set to play Sonya Blade.
The same source also says that Lewis Tan (Wu Assassins) is onboard as well, but it is not known which role he is playing. A reasonable guess would be either Kung Lao or Shang Tsung.
The Mortal Kombat movie is planned to release in cinemas all over the world on March 5, 2021. Do you have high expectations for this one?
