2K Australia was behind the latest installment in the Borderlands series, as they created the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel under Gearbox Software's supervision. Unfortunately it would seem that said game is the last to come out of the studio in Canberra as it is closing its doors. The news came first from Kotaku, who cited an anonymous source. Since then 2K has released a statement confirming the news. The reason behind closing were supposedly the high development costs involved in running the studio.
This is a bit of a bad news for Australia, as Develop reports that 2K Australia was the last AAA development studio in the country.
