Sad news for you this morning. Joel Green, the five-year old who inspired the emotional and affecting adventure title, That Dragon, Cancer, died yesterday.

Joel, who's battle with illness provided the creative inspiration that drove development of That Dragon, Cancer, passed away on March 13 after fighting terminal cancer for four years.

The boy's father, Ryan Green, has been developing the game (with others) to chart the emotional journey he and his family have been on. The announcement was made on the game's website with the simple message: "Joel took his last breath at 1:52am."

That Dragon, Cancer is planned to launch as an exclusive on Ouya, with other platforms presumably set to follow thereafter.

The thoughts of the entire Gamereactor team go out to the Green family at this time.

REVIEW. Written by Fabrizia Malgieri

"What we appreciated the most is the elegance, in form and content, with which That Dragon, Cancer explores this difficult theme."
