The I am Setsuna devs reveal Oninaki

You'll get to travel between the world of the living and dead to save lost souls from becoming monsters on PC, PS4 and Switch this summer.

Lost Sphear was far from as good as we'd hoped after playing Tokyo RPG Factory's first game, I am Setsuna, but we still believe that the latter wasn't just a lucky hit. That's why we're still very interested in learning more about the studio's third game.

The game is called Oninaki, and puts us in the shoes of a Watcher. We're not talking about a Peeping Tom here, but a character that is tasked with guiding the lost souls of the dead to where they belong so that they can move on and be reincarnated. This can only be done by helping them sever the bonds they still have in the world of the living, while also protecting them from dangers in the world of the dead. These lost souls aren't completely helpless though, as the souls you save will have unique powers and aid you in future encounters. Just see how different souls aids the protagonist in different ways in the trailer below.

Oninaki is due out this summer on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

How do you think it looks and sounds so far?

Oninaki

REVIEW. Written by Ingar Takanobu Hauge

"Oninaki could have been a great JRPG, but a poor script and dull characters make the whole thing a monotonous and repetitive affair."
