The Good Life's town named after Swery's cancelled project
Rainy Woods was also the starting name of another big title.
Swery65, real name Hidetaka Suehiro, is a game designer that has garnered fame for games like Deadly Premonition, but now he's back with upcoming game The Good Life, set in a town called Rainy Woods. We spoke to the man himself (via a translator) at Gamescom, and he gave us an interesting fact on how the name of the town came about.
"First of all, we're in the middle of England, this town, so of course it's gonna rain a lot, so that's one reason, why we call it Rainy Woods," he started. "But you may not know this, but you may also know this - Rainy Woods is the name of a title that we ended up not releasing [...] we really can't talk about Rainy Woods, the original game, however, Deadly Premonition, that's a completely other story. Deadly Premonition was actually originally named that as well, and then [after] a while we realised we should change the title, but back in the day when it was 100% Swery time, Rainy Woods was the name, and he wanted to use it."
Did you know that?
