The Voxel Agents' puzzle game The Gardens Between originally released back in September last year, but now a new press release has revealed that it's heading to the App Store for iPhone and iPad on May 16, with pre-orders open now for those who want to get in on the fun.

You can play in either portrait or landscape, and the extra space from super-wide screens like the iPhone XS also helps the game stand out visually. Those using the iPad Pro can expect the game to target 60 FPS as well.

The game tells the story of Arina and Frendt, two friends who you guide through various islands by manipulating the environment and the passage of time, with updated touchscreen controls being applied here alongside Taptic Engine support and iCloud syncing across devices. The audio has also been tuned for the mobile debut too.

"The player support for the story we're telling will resonate with us forever," says Simon Joslin, co-founder of The Voxel Agents. "Their love for The Gardens Between made it possible to bring Arina and Frendt's story to iOS, where a new audience can reflect on the timeless whimsy of childhood wonder."

We played the game last year and had a really good time with it, as you can read in our review, and you can pre-order this new version on the App Store for $5.99 USD (£4.99, or €5.49).

Will you get this on your device?
