The first teaser trailer for the new upcoming Doom Annihilation movie dropped yesterday promising a host of monster killing goriness, exactly what you'd expect from a film set in the popular universe. Whilst the film will not see the return of popular actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Doom Annihilation is a sequel to the 2005 movie adaptation.

The question remains whether or not this film will actually outperform its predecessor, however at this current time considering what we got to see in the trailer, we are not entirely hopeful. Doom Annihilation was written by Tony Giglio (Death Race 2 & 3) and as shown in the short amount of released footage, it follows a group of marines sent to a base on Mars in order to respond to a distress call. To their dismay, the base has been overrun by demons who want to turn Earth into Hell itself - just a typical Doom-sday situation then.

As for the actors portraying the unfortunate marines, they include Amy Manson (Atlantis), Dominic Mafham (Ophelia), Luke Allen-Gale (Dominion) and Nina Bergman (The Car: Road to Revenge).

If you were wondering whether or not this movie adaptation has any link to the creators of the Doom franchise (id Software) or if it will affect the highly regarded game series, don't fret as id has stated on Twitter that they are "not involved with this film", meaning Doom Eternal will not be affected by this new cinematic release.

Doom Annihilation is scheduled to hit cinemas sometime this year (unless it goes straight to DVD, of course), although an actual dated release is yet to be announced. Will you be watching Doom Annihilation when it releases?
