The eMLS Cup took place at PAX East this past week, and at the event we managed to have a chat with director of properties and events for eMLS James Ruth, where we asked about the growth of the competition and whether he's happy with how things are going.
"We've grown our number of competitions," he told us. "Last year was our first major event under the eMLS brand, banner, which was the eMLS Cup, and we got a lot of great learnings from that. We ultimately expanded our calendar and now we're back again at eMLS Cup 2019, and we're really excited about the growth that we've seen and the engagement, and I think for us we're starting to build a bit of an eMLS community that sits alongside MLS."
"For eMLS in itself, I think we really like what we've built for League Series and Cup, and I think we're gonna continue to double down on this strategy, and then also start to build other programming that crosses over into our traditional MLS events. We have an MLS All-Star Game, so we'll be doing more programming there, and just bigger and better and badder all round."
Are you happy with the eMLS so far?
