We don't know exactly when it's coming beyond "early 2018", but Stellaris is getting an expansion that should put the cat among the pigeons, so to speak, via lots of new and increasingly violent options opening up to players. Apocalypse will include a planet-killing weapon called the Colossus, and new Titan ships that will reinforce and improve any armada. Throw in space marauders that can unify and cause late-game problems for players, along with a bunch of new non-violent tweaks (new civics, for example), and you've got a sizeable update on the horizon. As per the norm, there'll also be a free update landing alongside the paid one, which everyone should benefit from. Check out the trailer that landed alongside this announcement below.
