We've had our heartstrings pulled by That Dragon, Cancer and it is with a great sense of joy that we can tell you that the recent Kickstarter was successful to the tune of $104,491 (target $85,000). The extra funds will allow the developers to assume less debt as they work towards finishing the game.
The campaign closed out with an almost five hour long livestream entitled #whygamesmatter.
"Wow. What a wild ride. Thanks to you we're over-funded by almost $20,000! We are so grateful for not only your financial support, but also for spreading the word about us with those around you, and for your comments and stories, some of which we shared during #whygamesmatter, our closing "games people conference."
We can't really put into words how satisfied we are with how #whygamesmatter turned out. We just wanted to turn the spotlight away from us and toward our backers and fellow developers, and it became something truly special. We only hope word will spread about it so more people can check it out! We've tried to share it with some games press; hopefully they value your voices as much as we do."
That Dragon, Cancer is currently targeted for release on PC, Mac and Ouya in October next year.
