Tencent to operate PUBG in China
It doesn't seem like it's getting banned after all.
A couple of weeks ago we reported that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds was in danger of being banned in China, as the Chinese likened the game to old gladiator fights in Ancient Rome, and considered the content of the game to be violent and immoral, but now, according to Venturebeat, it seems they have come around on the issue, and Tencent has been given the exclusive rights to operate the game in China.
Tencent has promised to deal with cheaters, which is a growing problem for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, especially in Asia, in addition to running the servers and focusing on complying with (or bypassing) tough regulations.
This is certainly good news for Bluehole and The PUBG Corp as China is the biggest gaming market out there, but it's also good news for the players, as the cheaters, most of which are in China, will hopefully be dealt with.
Do you think Tencent can curb the Chinese cheaters?
