If ever there was a classic video game IP that perfectly suited high-speed kart racing, Sonic is the one that most people would think of straight away. And that's not just because of a thematic fit with characters that like nothing better than to speed through levels, it's also because the theory has already been proven correct in the form of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which landed on old-gen consoles back in 2010.
The last kart outing for the franchise won over a lot of fans and Sega will be hoping that Sumo Digital can pull a similar trick this time around with the upcoming release of Team Sonic Racing, a new game that takes the basic formula and adds a team-centric mentality that, along with its unique roster of characters, should help it sit apart from other racers such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the upcoming Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.
Sonic Team Racing is heading to PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on May 21, and you can check it out below.
