Team 17 nearly lost the Worms IP in the late 90s

Develop report on a cloumn penned by Team 17 MD Debbie Bestwick in where she recalls a close call where Team 17 almost lost ownership of the Worms IP in the late 90's.

For one reason or another Team 17 had fallen behind with a project and they needed more money to complete it. A deal was struck for more money with the publisher with the condition that if the game did not meet sales projections for the first 12 months - then the Worms IP would transfer to the publisher. Sales beat projections by a mere 1.7 per cent and Worms stayed on with Team 17.
