Supermassive Games is laying off up to 75 employees

Following the launch of Directive 8020 earlier this year, developer Supermassive Games, who is also known as the creator of Until Dawn, The Quarry, Little Nightmares 3, and the other The Dark Pictures titles, has announced plans to lay off up to 75 of its staff members.

As confirmed in a brief statement on social media, we're told "this is a necessary step to help ensure the sustainability of the company."

Supermassive doesn't share much in the way of specifics, but the British developer did conclude by explaining: "We know this will be an incredibly difficult time for everyone, and our priority throughout the process will be to provide support to all those impacted."

As for what Supermassive Games is currently working on following the arrival of Directive 8020, the studio doesn't currently have any announced titles, but we are assuming more The Dark Pictures stories are on the way considering Directive 8020 is somewhat considered the start of the second season of the horror saga. What we do know otherwise is this is the second round of layoffs that have wracked the company during the Directive 8020 era, which also recently saw the developer's CEO leave earlier this year.
