Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games, and Dotemu have revealed a brand new glimpse into Streets of Rage 4, showing off a gameplay teaser for the newest entry in the beat 'em up franchise, which is very different to what we saw back in the golden era when Streets of Rage was first popular.

This short clip shows Axel and Blaze dishing the smackdown to some thugs, and the visuals come courtesy of the team that made the Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap remake in 2017. It's a hand-drawn style with a mixture of colour and gritty landscapes, which you can see in action below.

The art style isn't the only change coming though, as the press release reminds us that we can expect new gameplay, music, and other "surprises" for long-time fans of the series.

Do you like what you've seen so far?

REVIEW. Written by Arya W. Wibowo

"Streets of Rage 4 doesn't stray too far from its predecessor, but it is precisely that loyalty to its roots that make it worthy of being loved once again."
