The Last Jedi director believes that going outside the box and rattling fans is the best way to move the franchise in interesting directions.
Once a self-professed prequel-hater during his college days, Johnson now reflects on how time, fan reactions, and his own experience as a filmmaker changed his perspective on the franchise's most controversial entries.
While fans believe they bullied Johnson away from Star Wars after The Last Jedi, the filmmaker actually just found a new genre to enjoy.
"If I make another Star Wars, I'll be the happiest person," he said.
After the hate her character got for her appearance in The Last Jedi, it might be surprising to some she'd want to return.
