This week has given us a lot of interesting PlayStation news, including a presentation by Sony Interactive Entertainment's President and CEO Jim Ryan which has been shared on ResetEra, giving us valuable insight into the company's gaming strategy when looking to the future.

In this presentation Sony claims that they'll "harness the power of new technology to offer completely transformative and immersive gaming experiences," although that won't be at the expense of those using older technology, since they also want to "leverage Backwards Compatibility to transition our community to Next Gen faster and more seamlessly than
ever before". Here we also see that they aim to provide "stability of environment for content creators" too.

Looking ahead, this new generation of hardware should arrive sometime after March 2020, according to Sony, with most expecting a reveal to happen sometime this year. It won't be at E3 though, since Sony is absent from the LA show, leaving Microsoft alone in the spotlight.

Is backwards compatibility important to you?
