Hunger Games-esque survival game The Culling is getting a closed alpha, the developer Xaviant has announced. The game is set to enter Early Access proper on March 8, but people interested can get an earlier peek at the game by signing up for the alpha on the official website.
From the newly released screenshots, the sixteen-player battle-to-the-death game looks like a bit of gruesome fun, and follows the 'gameshow' style, with players being thrown into a battle to the death for the entertainment of the masses. The Culling aims to "take the immensely popular Battle Royale subgenre into the primetime."
This isn't the first game to be announced that has 'Battle Royale' as its main genre: developers of the zombie survival game H1Z1 announced this week that it will be splitting into two separate games, with one of them being more focused on the arena aspect that helped coin the Battle Royale style.
The Culling looks like an interesting game, and will undoubtedly be popular in steam early access. The game will be $15 when it hits steam, and will be 10% off during its first week of release.
