Shadow of Mordor wins Game of the Year at GDC Awards

The Game Developers Choice Awards were distributed at the ongoing Game Developers Conference. Categories included Best Debut, Innovation Award, Best Technology, Best Narrative and of course Game of the Year.

This year it was Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor which picked up the GOTY award. But the game which received most of the awards was indie mobile game Monument Valley. It won the awards for it's visuals, innovative ideas and best handheld/mobile game.

But not only games received awards - developers were awarded to.

Among the awarded were David Braben, who received Pioneer Award for his job with the original Elite in the 1980s. Braben of one of the co-developers. Lifetime Award went to Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi.
